When you are a disrupter, all sorts of opportunities get presented to you, so your days are never quite the same. I still have a daily plan in place, to support my overall health and well-being and to keep me aligned with my life goals and business vision.
I start most days early with some time on the beach, I go for a walk or my beautiful partner Stef and I have our favourite spot for meditation.
I do some business work, mentoring or structuring my organisation – or planning something new and wild to throw out there.
The other day I did all that- and it was a beautiful day, and then I got to do something different. My Troublemakers business partner, Julian Moss and I were invited to guest speak at Macquarie University. We presented to postgraduate students studying entrepreneurship.
I had the best time. As head Troublemaker though, the time spent with these students raised a few questions for me, which then stormed into ideas and massive appreciation for what we achieve in our business.
As Julian and I told our stories of success in business and how we shook things up to make waves we could see their eyes light up with hope and expectation.
You don’t have to follow the rules, you can blaze your own trail and make it big.
It’s just such a wonderful thing to be able to contribute our knowledge and our passion for business.
And when you can break all the rules business IS exciting, anyone who sits around waiting for all their ducks to line up will be there a while. That was the case for these students. They were in their fifth year of study and most of them didn’t have a business yet! They are studying entrepreneurship, and not actually doing anything with that knowledge in the real world.
The real world is where the actual learning happens. That’s where you make mistakes, get incredible feedback and blast through ceilings.
And it just got me thinking that the fastest way to learn business is to do it, is to face the fears, is to break out. And this is what we talk about in The Troublemakers is The Breakout.
The breakout happens when your back is against the wall, you’ve got no exits, and you have to create. In the midst of that creation, with that leverage of no exits, you get clarity. And that’s what I call the breakout. It’s when you breakthrough your psychology, you evolve, you start to see the world differently.
And if you look at many, many successful entrepreneurs they say that their million-dollar idea, their billion-dollar idea came when their back was against the wall, when they had no exits and they tapped into a new level of creativity.
To me that is what the breakout is. And I really don’t think current education is setting students up to have that experience. It’s too safe, and that’s what I said to them, the fastest way to learn business is to go and start a business. And I actually said that in one of the presentations I did,
“Leave this course, go and start a business as fast as you possibly can.”
I’m not sure if we will be invited back. I would say the same thing every time because it’s what I believe. The first one or two business probably won’t succeed, but you will go through an enormous learning and growth, you will evolve as an entrepreneur, and I really believe that, your business will never outperform your psychology or skill level so you have to break out of yourself.
I loved giving that presentation. As a presenter it’s one of the most rewarding gigs you can get. I love going to these universities and presenting to these students and it actually got me thinking about how valuable our Troublemaker and Live It Now courses are.
These students are paying between $30,000 to $40,000 a year. By that fifth year they are $150,000 down with little or nothing to show for it but books or grades.
Our Troublemaker and Your Future Now courses are so amazing. Do you know that we talk on mindset, getting rid of fears, limiting decisions, and negative emotions? That’s the true heart of starting your own business, getting over yourself and using your unique experience and life skills to your advantage.
We show you how to heal your wounds so they can become your superpowers
We give people a business, a coaching business with all the support and qualifications needed for financial and personal success, including all the scripts, templates and hands on working modules. To me coaching is such a wonderful apprenticeship. It’s a wonderful first business, it’s a nonadvisory approach. Really your job is to draw information out of your customer (your client) and help them find their spark.
We lose our spark so quickly if we get stuck on other people’s goal plans. By helping your customer find that spark and by creating a very supportive environment that is going to help them follow through, and help them move to that position of breaking out to the next level, you find your own spark and reach those next levels yourself as well.
And so I thought, we do some wonderful, wonderful things and it inspired me even more to get Live It Now out there, to get people back on track with their own goal plan and to boost our Troublemakers Disruption Tour and so many wonderful things that people can use to create an amazing life for themselves, and it’s free.
Straight after that presentation, I went into The Great Escape program. I was on this massive high and totally motivated.
Just to see all of our students from The Great Escape program starting to get these incredible breakthroughs and getting results in their business is super rewarding.
The Great Escape is designed for start-up business within the of 0 to 100K range, and then last week we ran the Troublemakers Business Breakout, and Julian and I get to see massive achievements. One of our clients Ross, has almost hit the million dollar mark, when he started with us his business was making about $150,000.
I just wanted to share that I’m so grateful for the work that we do, and I’m so grateful for the people that we have attracted into our life, our community and for the difference that we are making.
I hope this post has inspired in some way to go out there and just get started.
The biggest thing is to get out there and do it, take action, go through the setbacks and change the relationship that you have to failure – because if you come to our Live It Now weekend you’ll get to quickly learn, “there is no such thing as failure, only feedback”.
The key is to get as much feedback as you possibly can to then get the results that you’re looking for in your business or your life.
